Each year, Consumer Reports surveys their subscribers to collect data on how new car models are holding up under daily use. They identify common problems drivers encounter, and crunch the numbers on which brands are providing a higher-quality product.

In first and second place for 2016 are Lexus and Toyota.

In fourth place is the sporty, crossover-driven Mazda.

Kia came in sixth place, with a mean reliability score well above average.

Yesterday, Toyota announced that, after 13 years as the youngest brand in the industry, Scion will return to the Toyota family, beginning in August of 2016.
