Welcome to our first Dolan Philanthropy Spotlight! We are starting this series to showcase some of our favorite philanthropies and our partnerships with them. Through the series expect to see a monthly showcase of a non-profit organization we love and their mission to better our region and beyond. We hope you join us each month as we share wonderful organizations and the great work they are dedicated to.
For this month's Dolan Philanthropy Spotlight, we are highlighting the Lyon County School District. Their mission is to provide relevant learning opportunities that develop adaptable, persistent, and self-directed learners capable of creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking necessary to overcome complex challenges for the students of Lyon County School District. For many years Dolan Auto Group has been partnering with the Lyon County School District supporting their mission through programs such as the Dolan Class Project, Cars for Classrooms, and Dolan School Upgrade.
The Dolan Class Project allows local teachers in Northern Nevada to submit projects on behalf of their classes in hopes of winning funds to make the projects come to life. The projects are meant to better our schools for the current and future generations as well as impact the community. Miss Sciarani’s First Grade Class at Yerington Elementary School was one of the recipients of the funds for the 2021 Dolan Class Project! They upgraded their classroom with the funds and also gave back to the community by serving their local senior center.
When the Dolan family purchased Dolan Fernley Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram they had a desire to create an even deeper partnership with local schools. So, Cars for Classrooms was created! Cars for Classrooms is an initiative where every time a vehicle is sold at our Fernley store, $20 is donated to the surrounding schools. In 2021 alone, over $16,000 was given to Lyon County Schools.
Dolan Auto Group is passionate about supporting education and youth in our community. This desire originated with Ryan, Danielle, and Brady Dolan's mother being a Special Education teacher in the district while they grew up. They saw firsthand how impactful teachers were for their students and all of the needs that arose.
We are always looking for ways to build a brighter future for the community we call home -which we believe begins with supporting our youngest community members. We are honored to work with Lyon County School District and look forward to the partnership and helping wherever we can.
