Vitalant is encouraging community members to make an appointment for donation as soon as possible by clicking HERE. Your appointment will help the Vitalant team to plan for your arrival! However, if you decide to drop-in and donate that is welcomed as well. The need for blood is great!
By donating you are helping to fulfill a HUGE need for blood and blood products in our community. In addition to doing something amazing, you will receive a free pint of ice cream from Tahoe Creamery and get the chance to win diner for two at Bistro Napa in the Atlantis ($100 Value). As an added bonus, when you donate blood, your cholesterol levels, temperature, pulse and blood pressure are checked, along with your COVID-19 antibody status.
FUN FACT: If you’ve received any COVID-19 vaccine, you may still give blood or platelets.
A few things about Vitalant…..
· Vitalant has played a key role in battling COIVD-19. By providing the most units of convalescent plasma which is used to treat COVID patients. If your blood donated has enough antibodies, Vitalant can now remove your plasma to make this life saving product.
· Locally Vitalant serves 22 hospitals and four other locations.
· 150 blood donors a day are needed in Northern Nevada to care for area hospital patients
· Vitalant is following all CDC and local government safety procedures at any and all blood drives and locations.
· Vitalant has operated as safely as possible throughout the pandemic to help with this dire need.
