Dolan Automotive Group's $30,000 School Upgrade Project

Last year twenty northern Nevada schools were awarded $2,500 each during the $50,000 Classroom Project Giveaway. We saw tremendous creativity from the participating school and incredible support from the community. Not to mention the amazing time we had visiting the winning classrooms and meeting northern Nevada teachers, students and parents. We gained more than 7,000 new Facebook friends who showed their support for education in northern Nevada by casting more than 27,000 votes. That is why we want to keep the ball rolling with our $30,000 School Upgrade Project!

The School Upgrade Project:

The $30,000 School Upgrade Project invites northern Nevada public schools to participate in the contest, which awards three schools with $10,000 each to fund projects benefitting students as a whole. Proposals are submitted on the Dolan Automotive Group Facebook page where the northern Nevada community can vote on their favorite school submission. The top three vote-earning schools, one elementary, middle and high school are awarded $10,000 each!

Here’s how to participate:

Head to the Dolan Automotive Group Facebook page, www.facebook.com/DolanAutomotiveGroup.

Principals, determine with your students and faculty how the funds could best benefit your school and submit a proposal on the “School Upgrade” tab from January 4- February 14. Entries are limited to one entry per school and must be submitted by the principal.

Northern Nevada community members we’ll need your help to decide which school will be awarded!

If you’re not already a fan of the Dolan Automotive Group page, become one by “liking” our page. Then begin voting by “liking” your favorite proposal.

Voting:

The first round of voting begins Wednesday, Feb. 15 selecting the top four elementary, middle and high school entries and ends Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 11:59 p.m. The top four submissions in each category advance to round two.

The second round of voting begins Wednesday, Feb. 22 and ends Tuesday, Feb. 28. Winners are announced Wednesday, Feb. 29. The $10,000 School Upgrade checks awarded March 1 – 2!

Requirements:

Project Description/ Action Plan: All entries must include a project description. Explain how the funds will be used and please be as detailed as possible.
Proposed Budget: All entries must include a proposed budget which outlines how the funds will be used for the school upgrade.

Tips for the Principals:

• Be creative- Invite the students to help you understand what they want and what the school needs. Think outside the box and get inventive!
• Use spelling/grammar check – We won’t be editing the proposals and they will be seen by the public when they are submitted. Be sure to check your spelling/ grammar.
• Use photos and/or video –Feel free to upload a picture or video along with your proposal. Though they are not required, they are strongly encouraged.
• Promote your entry - Spread the word about your entry with your family, friends, colleagues, students and student’s families through your social media channels. Make sure your entry is the top vote-getter!
